Dr. Jay Shah grew up in St. Louis, MO., and attended the University of Missouri for both undergraduate studies and medical school.  He proceeded to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at the oldest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical school - the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.  During that time, he discovered his love for caring for patients with cardiovascular disease.  After completion of his residency, he won a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO, which he completed in the summer of 2012, and where he was working as a full-time cardiologist until his move to Portland.

Dr. Shah is helping to build a strong cardiovascular division within The Portland Clinic.  At the same time, he is a faculty member of the Cardiovascular Division of Oregon Health and Sciences University, where he will spend time caring for patients as well as teaching the residents and fellows.  His vision for the cardiology care at The Portland Clinic is to provide the highest level of comprehensive cardiovascular services, including prevention, diagnostic non-invasive imaging and testing, and state-of-the-art treatment.

Dr. Shah's approach to patient care is to be first and foremost a passionate advocate for his patients.  He strives to be an anchor for his patients in the often confusing and complex systems of modern medicine.  Dr. Shah has the highest level of training in diagnostic cardiovascular medicine and consultation, stress-testing, echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), and nuclear cardiology.  He also has trained extensively in vascular medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial disease.  Outside the office, Jay enjoys hiking, road-biking, cooking, golf, and travel.
