I was born in Boston, grew up in Colorado, and did my medical training through the military, completing my medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., and my internship and residency at Wright Patterson Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. After a 10-year service commitment as an active-duty physician in the U.S. Air Force, I moved to Portland in 2012. I’ve been working at The Portland Clinic ever since.
While I see myself as a health advisor and consultant for my patients, I feel that it’s important for them to be active participants in their care. I try to develop a consensus health plan with my patients that’s grounded in evidence-based medicine and their own personal preferences. I encourage a healthy lifestyle and preventive care, which go a long way toward minimizing illness. One of the great things about The Portland Clinic is our interconnectivity between all the major health care systems in Portland, which greatly enhances care coordination, continuity and safety.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially entertaining and being entertained by my two children. I also enjoy commuting by bike in our country’s No. 1 bike-friendly city, eating at food carts, and hiking our beautiful Northwest landscape.
