To recognize The Portland Clinic’s 100th anniversary, and to respond to the elevated community need amid the COVID-19 pandemic, The Portland Clinic Foundation proudly distributed a record $100,000 in unrestricted grants to local nonprofit organizations.

Coalition of Communities of Color

Operating support for this leading racial justice research, policy, and advocacy coalition.

Hollywood Senior Center

Operating support for this essential provider of support and community for low-income elderly people as it seeks to expand through the absorption of the Giving Tree and Asian Food Pantry, as well as increasing its case management and direct service provision.

Howard’s Heart

Capacity building to increase direct access to their services, which focus on supporting the needs of teens in foster care, including removing barriers to access.

North by Northeast Community Health Center

Operating to support the only affordable healthcare provider specifically for African Americans and Black people in Oregon.

Portland Refugee Support Group

Program support to provide direct assistance to refugee families struggling from the economic and health impacts of the pandemic.

Portland Street Medicine

Operating support to provide on-site street medicine to people who are unhoused in the places where they reside.

Red Lodge Transition Services

Program support for culturally-specific substance abuse recovery program for Native American women who are incarcerated and who are transitioning out of incarceration.

Clackamas Service Center

Operating support to sustain food pantry, hot meals, clothing and bedding distribution, service referrals, and other wraparound services for low-income and unhoused individuals and families.

Family Justice Center of Washington County

Operating support for this umbrella organization that provides a range of services (legal, housing, counseling, child-care, and more) to survivors of domestic violence.

Family of Friends Mentoring

Operating support to sustain long-term mentorship program for low-income students at Title 1 schools and in SUN programs in Gresham and east Portland.

The Living Room

Program support for donated supplies to support LGBTQ+ youth in rural Clackamas county.

Voz Workers’ Rights Education Project

Operating to support the safe employment, and advocacy for the rights of, day laborers across Portland.

Bridges Collaborative Care Clinic

Operating support for a student-led clinic providing sexual and reproductive health to unhoused people in partnership with Transition Projects.

Centro Cultural del Condado de Washington

Operating support for a venerable organization that provides a wide range of basic services, direct assistance, outreach to, and advocacy for Washington County’s Latinx community.

Portland Food Project

Operating support for volunteer-run organization that collects nonperishable food for distribution to food pantries across Portland.

Rose Haven

Operating support for community and resource center to support women, children, and non-binary people who are unhoused.

$2,500 Recipients

Incight Company

Capacity building for Incight’s trainings and advocacy to empower more youth and young adults with disabilities to pursue post-secondary education, employment, and independence.

Wisdom of the Elders

Operating to support storytelling and the cultural preservation and celebration of Pacific Northwest Native Americans.

$2,000 Recipients

ASSIST

Operating support for ASSIST’s casework and advocacy to win social security benefits for low-income or unhoused people who are severely disabled, guaranteeing them lifelong income and added stability.

Black United Fund of Oregon

Capacity-building support for a laptop lending library for low-income youth of color, so that they can have additional access to educational, postsecondary, and career research as part of BUFOR’s Mentor4Success program, which helps students apply for college, scholarship, and job opportunities.

BRAVO Youth Orchestras

Operating support to sustain in-depth after-school music programs in Title 1 schools, for students in grades 3-10 who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to receive music tuition and performance opportunities (and the associated academic benefits).

Iko no Kai Community Lunch Program

General operating support to re-start culturally-specific meals and community-building program for Japanese American elders.

Painted Horse Recovery

(Fiscal Agency provided by 4th Dimension Recovery Center)

Operating to support the growth of culturally-specific addiction and recovery services for Native Americans and Native Alaskans.

Portland Animal Welfare (PAW) Team

Operating support for an organization that provides free veterinary care for the companion animals of people experiencing homelessness and very low-income individuals.

Sexual Assault Resource Center

Operating support to eliminate sexual violence through education, support, and advocacy.

The Children’s Book Bank

Operating support to provide home libraries to low-income children in partnership with other literacy nonprofits.

The Shadow Project

Operating support for low-income students who need adaptive technologies and other alternative learning strategies.

With Love Oregon

Operating to support the provision of supplies and support for parents of foster children ages 0-6.

$1,000 Recipients

Boost Oregon

Operating support to advance vaccine literacy initiatives amongst both parents (for childhood vaccines) and adults (for the COVID-19 vaccines), including culturally and linguistically specific outreach to communities that have high rates of vaccine skepticism.

Bradley Angle

Program support for Healing Roots, a trauma-informed, culturally-specific domestic violence survivor support program for African American women, who during the pandemic have experienced particularly high rates of domestic violence.

Music Workshop

Capacity building for technology acquisition to develop additional free, culturally-specific music education curricula that supports thousands of students.

Paws Assisting Veterans

Operating support for the re-training of support dogs and veterans with PTSD or physical disabilities to help them readjust to post-quarantine social and commercial interactions.

Portland Fruit Tree Project

Operating support for an organization that harvests fruit from trees whose owners donate it and then distributes fresh fruit to food pantries and other nonprofits.

Rahab’s Sisters

Capacity-building support to hire a program manager to provide more sustained meals, community, referrals, and advocacy for unhoused women and non-binary people in east Portland.

Store to Door

Capacity-building support to expand their grocery delivery program to more homebound seniors and people with disabilities.

Tualatin Hills Park Foundation

Program support for summer mobile recreation labs to support people who are homebound, have disabilities, are quarantining, or who otherwise couldn’t access park activities.

The Portland Clinic Foundation is supported by contributions from you—our patients, employees, partners, friends, colleagues and wider community members. In 2021, the foundation received 80 applications totaling more than $359,000. The Portland Clinic awards “unrestricted grants” which allow recipients more flexibility in the way they use the funds. Unrestricted grants are a way of providing resources that can be used immediately.
