Pediatrics - Primary Care
Prior to earning my medical degree at Wright State University in my home state of Ohio, I completed a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Virginia Tech. I had planned to go into research, but after a summer doing chemistry research, I realized that what I really wanted was a job where I could more directly interact with and help people. So, I applied to medical school, which I loved — and working with children turned out to be my favorite part.
I completed my pediatrics residency at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron, and practiced in a multispecialty clinic in Ohio for several years before moving to Oregon to join my husband. Here in Portland, I love the proximity to both the ocean and Mt. Hood, but still miss the snowy winters in Ohio! The Portland Clinic, though, feels like home. I really like being part of a multispecialty group; it’s great to have specialists to confer with, as well as the other pediatricians.
I see children and teens for routine well care and a variety of pediatric problems. It is a privilege to be involved with my patients and families as they grow and to help them make informed decisions about their health. I follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and believe it is safe for all children.
I job-share with Dr. Mary Horrall, which gives me a healthy work-life balance. Outside of the office, I enjoy time with my family, outdoor activities (hiking, bicycling and skiing), reading, gardening, trying new recipes and sewing. I am also involved in my church, where I play in the bell choir and help prepare a monthly meal for the Transition Center.
Dr. Palm has been named a Top Doctor by Portland Monthly magazine multiple times.
