Orthopedics & Sports Medicine
I chose orthopedic surgery as a career because I was fascinated with the interplay between anatomy and biomechanics, and because I found it very rewarding to help get people back to doing the things they loved. I completed my undergraduate studies at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and went on to earn my medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. I am dual fellowship trained in hand surgery and sports medicine, including minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery.
In my practice, I primarily treat conditions of the upper extremity, but I also do some general orthopedic surgery, such as fracture care. My core philosophy is shared decision-making. I enjoy educating patients about their condition, explaining the treatment options, and helping them choose which course of action will best fit their personality and lifestyle.
I grew up in Massachusetts, but have adopted the Pacific Northwest as my home. I lived in Seattle for five years prior to moving to Portland in 2012. My wife, whom I met in medical school, was born and raised here.
I thrive by spending time with my wife and two kids and traveling to new places. I love my work, but it’s the time away from work that recharges me.
