As a neurologist and sleep specialist, I treat all types of sleep disorders, including insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, REM behavior disorder, restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder. I work with a wide variety of patients over the age of 15 to improve sleep, which improves their overall health, energy and happiness.
Most sleep disorders can be treated, and getting treatment is very important: insufficient sleep can make pain and chronic conditions worse, and has been linked to depression, heart disease, high blood pressure and shortened lifespan. At The Portland Clinic Sleep Center, we offer home sleep apnea tests and have an overnight sleep-testing facility to help diagnose sleep disorders. For people with sleep apnea, we dispense CPAP machines and supplies, and our licensed sleep technologists teach patients how to use them properly to improve their sleep quality.
I earned my medical degree with honors from Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, India, and completed internal medicine internships there and at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens in New York. I completed my neurology residency at Oregon Health & Science University. I am a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and I’m board certified in neurology and sleep medicine.
