Basics Market is here!

Hello from Basics Market! The Portland Clinic invited us to let you know a bit about our new store, conveniently located below The Portland Clinic’s Northeast branch at 5035 NE Sandy Blvd. We’re a small format market, classroom and gathering place designed to help more people cook healthful meals at home. We strive to find the freshest, most flavorful ingredients, pair them with simple recipes, and share kitchen skills and nutrition knowledge. Recipes are developed by our in-house culinary team and evaluated for optimal health by our nutrition team. Click here to visit our website for more information and class schedules.

At 7,500 square feet, our store is a fraction of the size of a typical grocery because it’s designed for access – offering just what you need to create nourishing meals in your own kitchen. Ingredients are organized by recipe at meal stations, and shelves are stocked with pantry essentials and more, offering local and sustainable options when possible. We curate the best products so shopping is simple, and offer helpful advice and classes to help you gain confidence.

Like our neighbors at The Portland Clinic, we believe fresh, nutritious foods cooked at home empower you to thrive. A third of our space is dedicated to nutrition and culinary education; we have a full calendar of diverse classes daily, all complimentary. Our classes will run the gamut from nutrition how-to’s to basic kitchen skills and explorations of seasonal cuisine. Check them out and sign up for a class at basicsmarket.com.

The store is the vision of Chuck Eggert and was created by a collective of farmers, ranchers, grocery veterans and consumer packaged goods experts. Much of the meat, poultry and eggs carried at Basics will be from Eggert family farms. These farms, and those of our partner suppliers, prioritize soil health, animal welfare, regenerative practices and seasonal rhythms.

When you visit The Portland Clinic’s Northeast office, come by and say hi to Basics, learn something new and pick up the delicious ingredients to make a meal or two at home. We’re open Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

We’d also love for you to join our community celebration on September 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration will include tours of The Portland Clinic’s space and our grocery store. We’ll have house-made huckleberry cobbler and ice cream made with ingredients from local producers, a chance to win a dinner for 6 made by Basic’s Executive Chef, Fernando Divina, store tours, and more.
